My latest book, Loose Ends in Yokohama, is about looking back at your own life and trying to set things right while you still have time.
It could be that good friend you had an argument with years ago, but haven’t bothered contacting since. Or that special person that you never quite had the courage to tell how you feel. Well, in the case of my main character, Ron Jackson, who was abandoned as a child by his American father and raised by his Japanese mother, he has more serious amends to make than most of us.
Having bottled up his feelings all his life while ruthlessly building a successful bar and restaurant business in Yokohama, it takes an unexpected meeting, a blast from the past, for him to realize that the time has come to finally face his past.
Although the story delves deep into the troubled psyche of Ron, living in denial of his old sins and alcohol addiction, it is also meant to show the bright side of this struggling soul, as he tries to better himself and make up for old wrongdoings, in spite of all his shortcomings.
My hope is that Ron’s story will resonate with the reader and serve as an inspiration to follow his example by looking into what really matters in life, before this annoying clock we all have ticking inside of us stops.”
