“dibs isn’t your typical romance novel. It was never meant to be: it was written after I’d read some “women’s fiction” that left me so angry and frustrated, I didn’t know what to do.
So naturally, I wrote my own! I sought to include everything the book I loathed had lacked: realistic characters, relatable situations, internal struggles, deeply felt emotions…and a leading man made of more than cardboard and abs.
I drew from some of my own real-life experiences and hurts and transformed them into a story that has had even non-romance readers falling in love. There’s plenty of bourbon and banter, and a bit of heat, too.
Originally, dibs ended with an epilogue, and I figured my brief dalliance with romance was over, but the first readers devoured the book and demanded more. So I struck the epilogue and wrote a sequel. “The Bourbon Books” were born!
dibs was named a Finalist in the Kindle Book Review Awards for 2020, and category leader for their Reader’s Choice for Romance, too. The sequel, Since September just launched, and the third novel is set to debut in February 2021.”
